René van den Assem

René is an experienced and professional Consultant in the fields of information provision, privacy, and security. He has been active in information security since the 1980s. Since 2012, René has been working as an independent advisor with his own company, Advies in Vertrouwen, collaborating frequently with Highberg as well as other firms and highly qualified independent professionals. His principle is to work with good professionals. Until 2012, René was associated with Verdonck, Klooster & Associates (VKA: now Highberg) as a Principal Consultant and Partner. At VKA (now Highberg), René established and led the information security group in 1996 and later played a key role in shaping Enterprise Architecture and Business-IT strategy activities. The common thread in all his assignments is trust, as he has been committed to reliable information provision in all its facets for over 20 years. 'Digital Trust' - privacy, information security, and identity management - is the foundation for René. He is also socially involved by contributing voluntarily to the standardization of electronic signatures and the certification of Trust Third Parties. Furthermore, he believes that reliable information security must fit well with the organization. This includes a good Business-IT strategy, Enterprise Architecture, and quality control. These elements come together in recent assignments such as lead architect for DigiD Hoog and an expert opinion on public authentication.
