Data-Driven Work: How does your organization handle data responsibly in the healthcare domain?

In an era of rapid technological advancements, healthcare organizations face the significant challenge of not only exploring the possibilities of data-driven work but also ensuring compliance with the appropriate legal and ethical frameworks.

When implementing technological innovations, organizations must not only consider what is technologically possible but also carefully assess whether choices align with the values and principles of the stakeholders within the organization.

Collaboration

At healthcare organization Gemiva, many questions arose about what is possible, permissible, and desirable when it comes to data-driven work in healthcare. In this active quest for a clear course, Gemiva is at the forefront of the healthcare sector.

Highberg supported Gemiva in this challenge by assisting in making policy choices that are suitable for Gemiva, within the appropriate legal and ethical frameworks.

Through open dialogue and a workshop organized by Highberg, stakeholders within the organization were actively involved. This not only increased awareness of technology, ethics, and legislation but also created support for Gemiva's vision and policy principles.

  • Documented the ethical values relevant to the organization, employees, clients, and visitors of Gemiva;
  • Successfully integrated the ethical values into a vision (principles and guidelines) that is widely supported across the organization. This vision outlines how the organization will handle data-driven innovations in an ethically responsible manner within the healthcare domain in the future.

Feedback from Gemiva

“When starting a project, there is always some anxiety and uncertainty as the client, such as: Will this collaboration work? Do the consultants understand what I mean and what our question is? Can the consultants translate this into good and practical advice? Will there be (good) results within a reasonable timeframe?

These uncertainties quickly disappeared after the project began, and I am very satisfied with the final results. The products delivered by Laura and Justine will genuinely help us move forward as an organization. I am particularly pleased with the rules (Gemiva's vision document). Highberg has truly exceeded my expectations!

I am also satisfied with the guidance provided and the (enthusiastic) communication throughout the project. As a customer, I felt well understood."
