With the rise of big data, visualization has become increasingly important. When dealing with a small dataset, our brain can naturally provide context and interpretation. However, in recent years, the volume, interconnectivity, and complexity of data have grown exponentially. As a result, it has become increasingly difficult (if not impossible) for the human brain to process raw data quickly and assign it meaning. We can no longer see the forest for the trees.

The recipient of data must be guided in its interpretation. Effective data visualizations provide context and meaning to data, enabling the audience to understand, interpret, and identify patterns and correlations.

Traditionally, 80% of business information is presented visually, mainly in the form of graphs and tables. However, the same data can be interpreted differently by different individuals. Personal and cultural preferences, physical limitations (such as color blindness or poor vision), and even the recipient’s intentions all influence how data is perceived. Does the audience view the data objectively, or do they only see what they want to see?

A lot happens in the brain between the moment a dashboard is seen and the moment a decision is made. The art of data visualization lies in ensuring that information is retained and processed effectively, rather than being lost in the noise.

Target Audience

This masterclass is intended for anyone working with data visualization, including:

  • Report and dashboard designers
  • HR professionals
  • HR controllers
  • HR analysts

The training is designed in a way that requires no prior technical background.

After completing this masterclass, participants may choose to continue their learning with additional courses, such as:

If you haven't yet taken the HR Analytics foundational training, we recommend exploring the HR Analytics Program.

Good to know

  • Our training programs offer an optimal combination of theory and practice. Thanks to our experienced instructors, who have hands-on industry knowledge, we ensure that course material is effectively delivered and immediately applicable.
  • At Highberg, we work with small groups (maximum 12 participants) to provide personalized attention.
  • If personal circumstances prevent you from attending a session in person, we offer the possibility to join the training online. We ensure that remote participants can engage interactively, just like those attending physically.
  • For in-company requests, it will be tailored to the needs of the company.

Learning Objectives

This training is based on the principles of leading experts such as Gene Zelazny and Stephen Few. After completing the course, you will be able to create clear and compelling visualizations to communicate key messages effectively.

In this theory-meets-practice training, you will learn:

  • How humans process visual information
  • When to use (and when NOT to use) graphs
  • Which types of graphs are best suited for different data
  • How to enhance graph clarity
  • The do’s and don’ts of dashboards
  • How to present multiple graphs effectively within a dashboard
  • New trends and developments in data visualization
